Summer dreams in February

Happy Wednesday, Lovies!
It’s been a minute since I shared an outfit with you. To be completely honest, I felt kind of uninspired; when it’s -20°C I don’t care even if my shoes are different colors, as long as they keep me warm!

I miss summer and I’m not the only one! Recently, one of my lovely readers told me she’d love to see me with some baby blue accents, as she is also bored with the endless black, grey and brown parade that seems to be an unofficial uniform here throughout the winter months. Well Maria (@freshcutsoflife), I haven’t found anything suiting yet, so here’s a sea themed look, I wore last weekend, the first day temperatures reached 9°C this year!

Esprit sweater, H&M skinny jeans, Betty Barclay boots

While I was shooting in a small but gorgeous gallery in downtown Sofia (it was closed), I realized how much I miss sharing outfits with you so here’s a few extra shots from the coffee shop I was hanging at 😊

As we are expecting temperatures to steadily increase in the next few weeks, I dare saying I’ll be sharing more looks throughout the month of Love.

Exploring the Rhine river

Happy Sunday, Lovies!

In case you follow me on social media (@SilviaMelange), you know by now I’m exploring Hessen, Germany.

The other day I went up the Rhine river to visit the statue of Loreley and the countless castles along the way. I was hypnotized by the view but I didn’t forget all of you as I sometimes do (guilty!), so I snapped a few pics of my look. I don’t think it’s even worth mentioning how important it is to be dressed warm for outdoor explorations in Germany this time of the year! I was lucky there was no wind so my Zara jacket came, revealing an oversized sweater from Tommy Hilfiger, paired with thermo leggings from H&M and knit Uggs.

Excuse the face bc the hair is fabulous!

Like every self respecting fashion blogger, I sometimes search for things on the ground 😂

Visiting this area was a magical experience I recommend to everyone who happens to be in town. Even when it’s chilly, it’s the perfect place for meditation and soul searching or as I call it- getting lost in nature.

As the end of the year is approaching, we all need some peace and quiet to reflect and plan our next move. What’s your favorite nature spot to chill at? How do you feel about 2016 ? What are you looking forward to in 2017 ? Let me know in the comments below!

Fashion Week Sofia 2016

Sofia Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2016 wrapped up this last Friday. It was a glamorous event, I highly recommend you visit if you happen to be in town.

This was the first Fashion Week I’m attending that not only has a dress code, but it’s strictly formal! What happened to self expression and street style?

A little bird told me this is only the second year Fashion Week Sofia is officially happening! They clearly have a lot more to learn and I have to admit, I went in with no clue what to expect! Despite the fact the organizers think of it more as a beauty contest and I’m fairly certain some “fashionistas” recycled their HS prom outfits (I got the pics to prove it), the actual show was glamorous and not over the top. I only wish there was more fashion and personal style, compared to showing off and posing…

Now the positive parts:

I loved the variety of people I met and their views on the collections and fashion in general! It was a great insight of the fashion scene in an “irrelevant”country, getting its first taste of fashion in general. I couldn’t have thought of a better location to set the mood for the event.

With a few exceptions, most of the models were actually models and could have walked Marc Jacobs in New York just as well ( miss whatever of whatever, love handles are unacceptable and for God’s sake, either learn to walk in heels or just request flats!). So here’s a few fashion NO-NO- JUST-DONT’s:

Aside of the why- the- f#ck-did-you-wear-that and do-you-own-a-mirror girls, there was some form of fashion:

I’m not gonna fail to mention the catastrophic closing of the first night (International designers), with a tasteless display of animal cruelty; a pair of the newest Dior sunglasses, modeled by the most “famous” local h0es (yes, the zero is purposely put there), modeling with a sphynx cat who was mortified!

Although, copy-cats make me sad, I am happy to report, a few designers actually do posses creativity and originality! All is not lost and I’m looking forward to seeing more IDEAS!

The after party on closing night was awesome with FashionTV’s very own Ania J and we danced on the runway with the models.

With that being said, Fashion Week Sofia managed to pleasantly surprise me with glamour and fabulousness!

Winter coats

Happy Wednesday, Lovies! Today I’ll be sharing the coats I’m currently wearing the most.Winter coats are an investment and an essential part of every woman’s closet, so there is no room for cutting corners. It’s something I usually wear more than one season so I don’t always follow the current craze, trending out on the streets.

A few weeks ago I realized I need a new coat! I wasn’t sure what I’m even looking for, just knew I need one. Upon inspecting my closet, I realized I’m a fan of solid, classic colors and designs, black being the dominant color. I also discovered a few pieces I had forgotten all about but I have to wait for temperatures to get a little above zero before showing you. Cold weather sure has its limits!

I took a stroll around town to check out a few of my favorite stores and I even picked out a few pieces. I was reaching for my wallet when it hit me- I had two black coats on my arm! Black! Again! I quickly returned them and left the store. I know black is easy to style up and it’s a classic but come on now! On the way home I decided I’m going to create a little “gallery” in an attempt to figure out what to “hunt” for next time I get out there.

As I’ve said before, you can’t pass on a good camel coat! It’s chic and feminine, fits both skirts and trousers, even the right pair of denim! Below is my favorite one from Zara, worn as a statement and as a fabulous finish to my office look.

Next on the list are my can’t-stand-it-cold aka, the cockroach jackets. I only wear them layered up on days like today (-12°C). I’ll start with the Benetton and how in love I am with this color: pink, red or a gorgeous mix between the two, it’s all about the light, baby!

Next is my Gina Benotti- an Italian designer with many affordable pieces. This cozy light-grey jacket with a pop of color is my current favorite and it never fails to keep me warm. The design compliments the body in a new way, making a cockroach jacket acceptable to wear to the office ❤

My classic black Guess trench coat can be worn as a statement piece because of the gorgeous buttons but also, semi-casual with chunky heels and designer denim (last year’s Gucci, pictured below). Styled up with a scarf or a wool dress, it’s one of my go-to’s:

My cream Zara wind-stopper never fails when it snows! The classic black Calvin Klein adds glam to the urban cold and Esprit does the job even up in the mountains!

Another black one, this time a wool coat. My beloved Jessica Simpson bell-sleeve. Sometimes a girl needs her statement coat and others, just a scarf does the trick.

We all have that one transition coat! You know, the moment when all of your winter gems make you sweat but it’s too early for a cardigan? Well, this gorgeous Zara is exactly what you need in your life!

There are the times when you can’t wait so you have to trust a wool sweather or a dress, in order to wear a Spring-ish Banana republic (black) coat but it’s all worth it!

Can’t help but mention my favorite transition coat- a custom made grey wool awesomeness:

I believe it’s now clear what I need- colors!!  Stay tuned on my coat situation as I’m also doing the 100 Happy Days challenge on Instagram (an explanation material on that is coming up) so you just know a new coat will make it up on that board ;]

Winter night out

Hello Lovies!

I know I’ve been absent this week so to make it up to you I’m sharing a winter party look from this past weekend! I’m wearing a Sisley knit dress I fell in love with while I was supposed to be window shopping, Zara basic top underneath, H&M ankle boots and a bag I found in a vintage store a few years back. Lately I’m into lipsticks, here I’m wearing deep red from Mac   ❤

Love, Silvia Mèlange
