The Moving Process

Happy Sunday-funday, Lovies!!
If you don’t follow me on social media (@SilviaMelange), you must think I really suck and I can’t blame you. I’ve been hyping you up for months with this big secret; All I ended up saying was “I moved to Amsterdam” and then I just fell off the face of WordPress! I’m taking the time today to explain myself and to update you on what’s been going on with me.
I don’t know if you guys ever had to pack up and move to another country. I literally had 2 weeeks to get through everything I own and make the decision what stays and what goes! I had to do this once before, when I moved back home from the US and I had forgotten how cleansing the process is. I also realized how much “junk” I have accumulated in the 3 years I was back home. From cute outfits I no longer wear to things I question my sanity about buying- the struggle was real! A lot of us swear by the “if you haven’t worn it in a year- toss it” golden rule but do we actually follow it?! I know I don’t, so this time I applied a different philosophy:

If it doesn’t make you happy-toss it!

It’s going to be a month since I moved tomorrow- I don’t miss or regret any of the items I threw or gave away. I advise you to try this clutter fighting technique even if you are not moving anywhere.

Finishing up work projects and canceling all sorts of subscriptions and contracts took most of my time. I didn’t really have anything to blog about and I’d rather present you with inconsistent but quality content than pile you with 3 automated crappy posts per day like some ppl do.

Then there was the emotional part:

My family is used to my wandering nature by now. However, knowing I live in the same city and for the most part I’m a phone call away has been a nice change for my parents, regardless of my countless business and private trips and after 5 years of me living in the US. Between running errands I was focused on spending time with my family and going to countless gatherings organized by relatives and friends, related to my move. Where I’m from, when you move away (and every time you visit afterwards), you are almost obligated to go to every gathering your family and close relatives organize in your honor, to see you and spend time with you before you move to a new country.

That pretty much sums it up, Lovies. Tune in tomorrow for a “My first month in Amsterdam” post, where I’ll share some adventures and insights.

Things are slowly falling into place and this city is really stimulating my creativity. I’m hoping I’ll finally be able to get back to regular posting in July! I have so much to share with you, just bear with me!

Love you all, Silvia Mèlange

Exploring the Rhine river

Happy Sunday, Lovies!

In case you follow me on social media (@SilviaMelange), you know by now I’m exploring Hessen, Germany.

The other day I went up the Rhine river to visit the statue of Loreley and the countless castles along the way. I was hypnotized by the view but I didn’t forget all of you as I sometimes do (guilty!), so I snapped a few pics of my look. I don’t think it’s even worth mentioning how important it is to be dressed warm for outdoor explorations in Germany this time of the year! I was lucky there was no wind so my Zara jacket came, revealing an oversized sweater from Tommy Hilfiger, paired with thermo leggings from H&M and knit Uggs.

Excuse the face bc the hair is fabulous!

Like every self respecting fashion blogger, I sometimes search for things on the ground 😂

Visiting this area was a magical experience I recommend to everyone who happens to be in town. Even when it’s chilly, it’s the perfect place for meditation and soul searching or as I call it- getting lost in nature.

As the end of the year is approaching, we all need some peace and quiet to reflect and plan our next move. What’s your favorite nature spot to chill at? How do you feel about 2016 ? What are you looking forward to in 2017 ? Let me know in the comments below!

A to JaZZ festival: the return of the maxi dress

Festivals of all sorts have been dominating the last few summers as the It thing to do. I know I can’t be the only one who is sick and tired of denim cut offs and a faded *insert 70’s band name here* tee. If you plan on spending the day and/or night on a blanket in the grass and sipping wine from a plastic cup, a cocktail dress and heels ain’t gonna cut it.

Move over cocktail slip on , there’s a new dress in town!

They say maxi dresses and skirts are making a comeback this year since they dominated the Spring runways. But did they ever really leave? From the 90’s when maxi dresses became every beach babe’s must-have till now, dominating the street style scene. The perfect length is around the ankles or gently touching the floor, as middies can be unflattering. You can’t go wrong with a daring slit or a flirty back, in a bright statement color or a gentle pastel. My personal obsession; colors and patterns mixed at random but matching perfectly.

This last weekend I had a blast at the A to JaZZ Festival here in Sofia. I wore a gorgeous Charlotte Russe maxi dress with rose gold Nine West sandals and earrings, Esprit bag and my favorite name necklace in white gold.

Put your hair up in a bun, relax and enjoy the music. Clean, bright or gypsy chic, the maxi dress is here to stay!

Grey fever

Happy Friday, Lovies!

I am obsessed with the all grey outfit trend that’s spreading like wild fire! I’m sure many of you notice the color more and more in Vogue and on the latest runways. “Grey is a boring color and it looks dull” – the most friquent argument against it I’m hearing. But as we see time and time again over the last few months, when styled right it’s fun and chic, perfect for an office look and casual street style. There are various ways to look fab in an all grey outfit! You can add a pop of color in shoes or accessories, pair it with statement jewelry, belt it and more. For today’s ootd, I chose to mix textures and add a splash of black here and there 🙂

I’m wearing Express fishnet sweater with a basic black tank underneath, skinny denim from H&M (super skinny, low waist) and Guess riding boots.

Do you, Lovies, adore grey as much as I do? What are your favorite ways to style it up? Let me know in the comments! I hope everyone has an amazing weekend!

Xoxo, Silvia Mèlange
